Welcome to “Module Two: Grant Content and Budgeting”. In this Module, you’ll become familiarised with the most important aspect of the grant writing process: the content of the proposal and budgeting. More specifically, you will learn about the standard sections of Research & Innovation grant proposals, the difference between eligible and non-eligible costs in budgeting, and the difference between direct and indirect costs.
Prior to writing the grant application, it is of the utmost importance to reflect on the “Six Fundamental Questions a Proposal Should Answer”:
Why us? Think about why you are the right expert or consortium to solve the problem.
What is the problem or challenge? This is the identified issue to which you’re proposing a solution.
What is the Solution? This is your answer to the identified problem.
Is it a national, regional or global problem? This is the dimension of the identified problem.
Is it solved? Are there already any solutions created to tackle the problem?
Why now? Identify the level of urgency to solve the problem (e.g. COVID, organised crime, etc.).
