Responsible Usage and Prompting of AI for Researchers
Enable your team to excel in AI-integrated educational environments.
Intro
Responsible Usage and Prompting of AI for Researchers guides learners through responsible, ethical, and effective use of AI in research. From examining AI usage guidelines for research to following specific prompt patterns, this course delves into:
• Ethical considerations surrounding AI use in research
• Leading AI usage guidelines in research
• AI-era principles of academic and research integrity
• Nine prompt patterns for responsible AI use in research
What You’ll Learn
Responsible Usage and Prompting of AI for Researchers provides a thorough examination of ethical AI use in research, including bias, hallucinations, ghostwriting, and authorship concerns. It further explores how AI is changing academic integrity in areas like proofreading, peer review, authorship, and citations. Learners are presented with practical strategies to maintain human agency, apply critical thinking, craft clear prompts, and evaluate AI outputs responsibly to uphold integrity. Learners will practice improving prompts, spotting errors, and customising outputs, within common research scenarios such as brainstorming, literature review, summarisation, referencing, and proofreading.
- This course consists of the following three modules:1. Foundations of Responsible AI Use
2. Responsible Prompting for Academic Integrity
3. Prompt Types and Strategies
- By the end of this course, learners will be able to:✓ Interpret leading organisational and national AI policies and guidelines.
✓ Identify AI-era principles of academic integrity.
✓ Evaluate prompts and LLM outputs according to principles of academic integrity.
✓ Use specific prompt patterns to design, modify, and apply prompts for research purposes.
