KnE Learn Launches the Foundations of Inter- and Transdisciplinary Research Knowledge Track

Published on January 8, 2024

As we usher in a new year, we’re proud and excited to introduce our latest knowledge track: The Foundations of Inter- and Transdisciplinary Research, a user-friendly digital learning programme created especially for researchers and other higher education professionals eager to enhance their skills and master inter and transdisciplinary research methods.

The programme is focused on nurturing research excellence, offering short, accessible modules that cover the core principles, methodologies, and best practices of inter and transdisciplinary research with the guidance of an expert.

While most courses can be completed in under two hours, course participants are offered the flexibility of pausing and resuming courses and modules at their convenience. If participants are uncertain about wanting to commit to the full programme, they can also enrol in separate courses.

About the Online Courses

The courses progress from theoretical and technical explanations of inter and transdisciplinarity to a more practical approach. This shift permits learners to apply their newfound knowledge directly to their research endeavors. All course modules are engaging, featuring informative worksheets, interactive exercises, videos, knowledge checks, infographics, and more.

The first course, Introduction to Transdisciplinary Research, defines, explains, and dissects major transdisciplinary research concepts, principles, objectives, and phases.

Co-designing Transdisciplinary Research, the second course in this programme, dives into framing techniques, describes how to build teams, and details the foundations of the theory of change and its application.

Co-producing New Knowledge is the third course of this knowledge track and touches on co-production processes, the three types of knowledge, and effective management styles and techniques for diverse teams.

The final course in this programme, Co-creating Pathways to Impact, explores the various approaches and communication strategies that could be employed to ensure the integration and application of transdisciplinary research in different scenarios or within a variety of contexts, enhancing its impact.
