Designing Impactful Online Learning Experiences

Intro

Date: 5 February 2025

Time: 2:00 p.m. GST

Transforming your courses from a traditional, classroom-based setting to an online learning environment can be a daunting task. Similarly, designing a course from scratch that may have to be taught across several modalities (i.e. live, online, scheduled, self-paced) can be overwhelming.

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to use instructional design frameworks to help guide the full process of creating or transforming a course into a fully online or blended modality. You’ll also discover some handy prompts to let AI tools assist you in the course design process. Finally, you’ll learn how instructional designers evaluate the impact of learning experiences and practice continuous iteration in the course design process.

What You'll Learn

1. The five stages of the ADDIE instructional design framework

2. AI tools and technologies to support you in each of the five stages

3. The different modalities in which online learning can take place

4. The five principles of adult learning

5. How to evaluate and continuously iterate course design for impact
